A young Instagram “influencer” has an important message for all the teachers in America – stop teaching youngsters about World War II. Because the Second World War involved the Nazis and concentration camps that killed millions of innocent people, a 22-year-old Instagram influencer thinks that it is “too intense” of a conflict to teach millennials. The “snowflake” argues that teaching young people about World War II would hit millennials’ mental health and do damage to their collective psyche.

Because the young man appeared on television to share his controversial view about education and World War II, he was met with a lot of resistance. But that’s what 22-year-old reality television star Freddie Bentley wanted to have happened when he went on Good Morning Britain. He argued that schools across Great Britain need to go easier on their young population and stop teaching them about the deadly conflict that thrust Europe into violence war.

“It was a hard situation, World War Two, I don’t want anyone to think I’m being disrespectful,” Bentley said. “I remember learning it as a child thinking, ‘Oh my God, it’s so intense.”

Because Bentley is a popular figure among young people and social media addicts, he managed to reach a lot of people. Many people on Twitter attacked Bentley’s comments on Twitter, one person writing, “You need to learn respect, young man!”

Other people shared similar comments on Twitter about Bentley’s comments that the heroic victory of the Allies who vanquished the Nazis and how teachers need to go “easy on the kids” who are desperate to learn that stuff.

“Are you having a laugh!” one person wrote. “Not talking about the war in school? Not educating them on what went wrong so it doesn’t happen again? You need to learn respect, young man.”

Another person wrote, “This kid on (Good Morning Britain) is an idiot. What has the Second World War got to do with mental health.”

“This made me so angry! Without people fighting that war, then idiots like this kid wouldn’t have the right to do what or be who they want! They fought for our freedom! So, learn about it, you, cretin!”

Bentley said during the interview that, “I don’t think encouraging death or telling people how many people died in the world war is going to make it better.”

The Instagram influencer believes that people should replace the topic of World War II with other things that should be relocated onto things that could influence people in their real life. Bentley believes that schools should teach children how to get a mortgage and how to understand political issues that are changing Britain, like Brexit.

“There are so many problems going on in the world, like Brexit, that’s not taught in schools. When I left school, it hit me like a ton of bricks. I didn’t know anything to do with life.”

What do you think about this millennial’s comments about teaching World War II in the schools? Do you think schools need to update their curriculum or not?
