In a new promotion that has drummed up some excitement, Krispy Kreme announced that they would be giving away free doughnuts to any person who can prove they have received their COVID-19 vaccinations with a COVID-19 vaccination card. The doughnut company announced that they would be giving away one free glazed doughnut per day to people who can show their vaccination card at the store to prove they have received their dose or doses.
The announcement was made on social media, and customers were delighted at the news. Although President Joe Biden has already exceeded the number of vaccinations he promised while preparing for the presidency, this Krispy Kreme promotion may get more people to get the jab.
The offer will apply to any person who has their CDC vaccination card. They will be able to get one free glazed doughnut every day until the end of the year 2021.
“We’d like to show sweet support to those who have received the COVID-19 vaccine. Starting today, bring your vaccine card to a Krispy Kreme shop and get one free original glazed doughnut. No chance to get your vaccine? This will run thru the end of 2021.”
The free doughnut must be picked up in person either inside one of the doughnut shop locations or at the drive-thru. The promotion does not apply to delivery or online orders since the vaccine card must be presented at the time of pickup to qualify for the free sweet treat.
Krispy Kreme did not put a limit on how many original glazed doughnuts vaccinated persons could receive. While they can get just one a day, they could return every day for the rest of the year if they wanted to get their hands on more Krispy Kreme sweetness.
“Whatever little things brands can do to help make it past the pandemic are good things,” Chief Marketing Office Dave Skena told Insider.
Krispy Kreme is not only awarding customers free doughnuts, but they are encouraging their employees to get the vaccination as well. The company allegedly offers up to four hours of paid time off so employees can get both doses and not have to miss out on some of their paychecks. The company does not require employees to get vaccinated, but they do encourage it.
“I hope that other brands will see and choose to do something similar,” Skena said.
The company also plans to donate boxes of doughnuts to support workers at vaccination clinics across the country. This will occur within the next few weeks.
Krispy Kreme is no stranger to a good promotion. On Election Day 2020, the doughnut company announced that they would give a free doughnut to anyone who came in on Voting Day. The promotion was designed to encourage people to exercise their right to vote.
“If you’re out and about on Election Day, we want to thank you by giving you a free Original Glazed doughnut,” Skena said in a press release. “And if you didn’t get your ‘I Voted’ sticker because you voted before Election Day, we’ve got you covered there, too.”
