Anna Shay skyrocketed to fame as the star matriarch of the Netflix reality series “Bling Empire.” The show released its most recent episodes back in October 2022. Shay was fortunate enough to inherit her father’s company, which was worth a lot of money. Her riches came to her after she and her brother sold Pacific Architects and Engineers, the company founded by her father that had an American defense contract worth so much money starting in the 1960s.
After Shay’s father passed away, she and her brother quickly decided to cash in on their father’s decades of hard work by selling the defense contractor company to Lockheed Martin for a tidy sum worth millions.
Although money was able to give Shay a lifestyle that many dream of but few can achieve, she only reached celebrity status after rising to fame from Netflix’s “Bling Empire” reality show. While Shay was able to buy all sorts of things during her sixty-two years of life, she could not buy eternal youth. Her family has since released a statement that confirmed that Anna Shay had passed away at the age of sixty-two after suffering from a stroke.
The family’s statement explained, “It saddens our hearts to announce that Anna Shay, a loving mother, grandmother, charismatic star, and our brightest ray of sunshine, has passed away at the early age of 62 from a stroke. Anna taught us many life lessons on how not to take life too seriously and to enjoy the finer things. Her impact on our lives will be forever missed but never forgotten.”
After Shay became a popular reality star thanks to Netflix’s Bling Empire, she spoke to People about her sudden fame and explained that she never even wanted to be famous because she is shy. She added that she “wasn’t even expecting to be in front of the camera” and was just being herself while filming the reality show.
In the aftermath of Anna Shay’s sudden death, Kim Lee had a conversation with Variety in which she stated that Shay’s death was “such a huge shock.”
Lee added, “I have so much love for Anna. I know that we had issues on the show but in real life, I had such a great connection with her outside of the show. We saw eye to eye, and she gave me so many words of wisdom I will never forget. There’s no one like Anna Shay; she’s an incredible and unique person who was beloved by so many people. My thoughts are with her family at this difficult time.”
Shay is survived by her son, Kenny Kemp, and unnamed grandchildren.
